Nimes, France

DECEMBER 29, 2012

Nimes is a wonderful southern city, full of culture and art.  They have a 1st century Roman Amphitheatre that is still in use, an expansive garden in the center of the city called Jardin de le Fontaine, and a beautiful romenesque gothic cathedral that hosts events both religious and secular.  The mix of modern and the traditional is apparent everywhere you look. The Maison Carree (Square House), a roman temple built in 19 BC being one of the best preserved Roman temples in the world is aptly juxtaposed to The Carre d'art Musee with an impressive permanent collection and a dynamic series of contemporary work.

Accidental Art plasters the city.....

And grafitti and street art are well-respected.

symmetry.....

....and chaos......

and symmetry and chaos....

sometimes its about mastering your materials.......

and sometimes it about how your artwork interacts with its surroundings.

And then there is just pure, unadulterated, absolutely breathtaking , completely serene moments of genius given life by the psyche of the universe through the hands of man.
